In a recent interview with Russell Moore, CBS Sunday Morning featured data from PRRI, including the fact that one-third of of Americans 65 or older identify as evangelicals, but only 1-in-10 Americans ages 18-29 identify as evangelicals. Moreover, one-third of young people say they have left their childhood religion because of its views on gay rights and 43 percent of young evangelicals support same-sex marriage. Moore, the new leader on ethics and policy for the Southern Baptist Convention, discusses how the churches must adapt to declining membership and increasing secularization in the country. Correspondent Jan Crawford concludes the segment by saying, “Today’s Evangelicals are no longer holding the moral majority. Instead they are a minority of believers seeking to persuade the skeptics.” Anchor Charlie Rose concurs; “Times have changed,” he says. Click here to watch the video.
