Welcome to the Morning Buzz, PRRI’s morning dose of religion-related news with a shot of data – because what doesn’t liven up a morning round-up like some public opinion numbers? The students, who were attending college convention at which Santorum was speaking, booed him for suggesting that same-sex marriage was equivalent to polygamy. This incident perhaps was unavoidable given the prominence of Santorum’s views on the issue and Millennials’ own very supportive position on the issue of same-sex marriage.

Timothy Dolan, the Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of New York, was named a cardinal by Pope Benedict XVI. Dolan has made headlines recently by vigorously opposing same-sex marriage in New York, as well as regulations from the Department of Health and Human Services which would require employers (even Catholic ones) to provide no-cost birth control to employees through insurance.
